Why do you need an LPA?

Having a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) in place is important for you and your loved ones to make sure in times of need someone you trust can make decisions relating to your health, property and finance on your behalf.

As an important legal document it’s vital to ensure that all parties understand the various options and decisions within the LPA and what they mean. It’s also important to complete the LPA correctly so that it can be properly registered with the Office of the Public Guardian.

Without being properly completed and registered, when you really need it, you will find your LPA is not legally binding.

What do you need us for?

Filling in a lengthy LPA form can be daunting for some. Filling in the form incorrectly can also result in additional time and expense; each LPA attracts a registration fee of up to £82, and submitting a spoiled LPA form may result in a rejection from the Office of the Public Guardian. Re-submission attracts a further charge.

Our service is quick and easy:

  • We spend time to gather the right information from you, explain key legal terms in plain English and then correctly fill in the form on your behalf.

  • We’ll explain simply the various roles and responsibilities of the people mentioned in the LPA forms.

  • We’ll explain simply any key decisions you need to make within the forms such as how many people you wish to act on your behalf and how they make decisions.

  • The completed forms will then be sent to you with clear and concise instructions and examples covering who, where when and how to sign.

  • Once signed, you’ll be able to send the completed LPA to the Office of the Public Guardian for registration

What will it cost?

Our services for support, guidance and document completion cost just £55 per LPA; you may need one for Property & Finance, and another for Health & Welfare.

You will need to cover a separate (up to) £82** charge per LPA to register each LPA with the Office of the Public Guardian. Under certain circumstances this fee may be as low as £0. This is a direct OPG cost.

**The charge may be reduced depending on whether your income is less than £12,000 or if you are receiving specific benefits
